SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANTSHIPS..

There are many types of financial assistantships:

Tuition Waiver: In this kind the tuition fee is waivered and a student has to pay for his living, books, food, etc. expenses.

Teaching Assistantships: In this kind a student gets a tuition waiver and a job as a teaching assistant. The student has to work a maximum of 20hrs a week and is paid close to US$ 1000 a month. This is enough to cover all your costs.

Research Assistantships: In this kind a student gets a tuition waiver and a job as a research assistant. The student has to work a maximum of 20hrs a week and is paid close to US$ 1200 a month. This is enough to cover all your costs.

Fellowships: This is the best of all. A tuition waiver and a stipend of about US$ 15,000 . The student cannot work and is then made to finish of the course in a short time. Very very clever gods get fellowship mortals get the other three kinds.

There are many students who DO NOT get assistantships in the first semester. They however get on-campus jobs that are reserved for students. Data-entry, maintaining files etc. These jobs pay close to US$ 500- US$ 750. A student(generally his parents) then has to shell out the tuition expenses.

To find out more about the financial aid facilities visit the Unversity Web-sites. Students who do not get financial aid from India itself can finance their studies by taking a loan from Nationalized Banks.
